OUTDOOR EDUCATION & ADVENTURE

Establishing strong communication foundations for Cambridgeshire Outdoors

Cambridgeshire Outdoors is part of Cambridgeshire County Council's Children, Education and Families directorate.

The organisation supports children, young people and adults to build personal confidence and a lasting connection with the natural world through adventure, nature and challenge.

THE SCOPE

  • Team workshops across two outdoor education centres

  • Stakeholder insight gathering

  • Messaging development

  • Pitch deck creation

  • Project management

  • Website copywriting

  • Strategic planning consultancy

The brief

Across two flagship outdoor centres, the dedicated Grafham Water Centre and Burwell House teams consistently deliver brilliant impact.

With an ambitious vision to reach more people through expanding programmes, the team needed strategic clarity and a shared communication approach to guide the next phase of growth.

The work

STRENGTHENING FROM THE INSIDE

We began with the people. Through facilitated workshops across both centres, we created space to surface shared values, recognise strengths and open an honest conversation about where the organisation wanted to go. This collaborative groundwork became the anchor for the strategic communication work that followed.

SHAPING THE MESSAGE

Drawing on workshop insights and leadership priorities, I developed a clear, purposeful pitch deck for school leaders, teachers and internal commissioning teams. Built around a consistent voice, it gave the organisation a confident way to talk about what it does and why it matters.

BUILDING A PUBLIC FACING PRESENCE

To give the organisation a central public‑facing hub, I led development and project management of a streamlined single‑page website. Bringing on board designer Krishna Solanki, we delivered a clear and accessible entry point that signposts visitors to services across the organisation and is designed to grow as programmes expand.

TURNING PRIORITIES INTO PRACTICAL PLANS

Working with the Business Development Manager, I supported translation of short‑ and medium‑term priorities into a clear, actionable strategic plan - breaking ambitious goals into practical steps the team can follow.

The difference

Cambridgeshire Outdoors now operates with a shared mission, a consistent voice, and the strategic foundations to reach more people through outdoor adventure.

Ellie has added real clarity and consistency to how we present Cambridgeshire Outdoors. She worked closely with our team to understand the breadth of our offer and helped translate this into clear, engaging content that reflects our purpose and impact.
